Bringing Sassy Back

When it comes to business cards I wanted something a little different from the norm. I originally ordered some slim line cards that allowed multiple front images. I love the idea of having one business card with many different images and was very excited the day the FedEx man rang my doorbell. They were HERE at last! But as I tore open the package my excitement faded when the print quality was revealed. Skin tones were reddish-purple and blotchy. Not the sexy appealing look that I want my images or clients for that matter, to be seen! So I sent them back and began a search for another company to which I might find that business card awesomeness I so desired.

Yesterday the delay and searching paid off and once again the FedEx guy rang my bell and I raced with glee to answer the door( I cannot confirm or deny if a childlike squeal passed my lips). I fell in love at first site. The print quality was fantastic, the image looked amazing and the colors vibrant. But best of all was the sassy little design. Perfection my friends, perfection!

The hardest part about going with this card was choosing one single image, but I think the cool shape makes up for not having multiple photos per batch of cards, besides, I can always order more with different images. Now here’s something else that is pretty cool, despite their costliness, they come in small quantities and I think these would be awesome for any client who would like their own image on a card to hand out to friends. I may change them up a bit, add a session referral discount or something but when the time comes and you love your images and whole experience with Coterie, just say the word and we will add on a complimentary custom set of cards to your order! If Only It Were Up To Me…

Unfortunately:

I cannot tell you how amazing you will look.

I can’t go over all the fun things we will do and try.

I won’t be able to explain how pampered you’ll feel having your makeup professionally applied, or how much we’ll dote on you, our supermodel for the day.

We won’t be able to discuss the body parts you are most fond of and want to accentuate, nor will we be able to discuss any area you might want to keep under wraps.

We won’t be able to talk about your opinions on airbrushing and what you may want touched up and want you would like left alone.

I won’t be able to assure you that those 5-10 extra pounds you were hoping to lose first really don’t matter and that you will look amazing just as you are, right now!

You won’t be able to share with me what you think is sexy and what you really want out of this shoot.

There is no way I can express just how much you deserve to feel sexy and desirable. Nor will I be able to tell you just how much you will get out of such an amazing experience.

Nope. You’re apprehensions, your questions, you nerves, and that little flutter of excitement in the pit of your stomach that you get each time you think of yourself looking all hot in those heals or handing that special someone a WHOLE ALBUM of you looking so amazing, well there is nothing I can do about any of that.

Unless… you give me a call or shoot me an email. I completely understand all the thoughts that may be holding you back, I really truly do. However I would absolutely love to meet with you and go over all these things. No pressure, just honest information about what you can expect. Plus this will give you a chance to meet me and get to know me a bit better. Let’s face it, no one really likes the idea of being half naked in front of a perfect stranger. It’s a good thing I’m not perfect and if we meet I won’t be a stranger anymore either. Ha! Just remember I cannot contact you without you first dropping me a line. There is still time to surprise that significant other with some steamy photos for Valentines Day!

So take a deep breath and go for it!

What Does “Hand Retouched” Mean?

Every photographer has a style and a work flow, and every photographer is different in how they approach “retouching” images. I happen to know that not many people can view an out of camera proof and visualize the final print. Not only that, but when it comes to having our pictures taken, we are our own worst critics. Add any insecurities to the fact that you’re being photographed in your skivvies and you may not be thrilled with the outcome. I personally don’t want my clients to have the opportunity to feel any self doubt. Instead I want them to view their images for the first time with jaw dropping excitement! That is why I include all retouching with your session fee, no hidden charges or extra fees.

So how much retouching do I do? Only enough to make you look and feel fantastic and quite honestly just enough that isn’t obvious. By this I mean, I may do tiny nips and tucks, skin evening and softening, but mostly I inform clients that I take care of the things they wouldn’t be the wiser of in a final image but may notice right away had I not done it. I won’t remove a few dress sizes but I may do a slight reshaping if I feel it flatters your figure. For example some poses, while flattering certain body parts may make an unflattering line or slight bulge elsewhere. Just think of that annoying excess skin between your bra and armpit- no one wants to see that right!?

Here’s an example of a before and after, sure the differences may be more obvious side by side, but not so much when all you see is an after. Listed are a few steps I take, if necessary, with each image. I do have a few other style affects I do to final images but those I need to keep secret. 😉

Let’s face it boudoir images are part reality and part fantasy. My job is to make the real you look amazing and bring out that inner sexiness. Even the most “perfect” woman could use some dark circle removal at times! I hope that seeing some before and afters will help ease your mind and fears that those stretch marks or few extra pounds may be stopping you from having  a fantastic and liberating boudoir experience.

I promise, you will look and feel amazing!

Show Off Those Curves!

My husband posted a link on Facebook this morning to an ad from the 1960’s called Wate-On. I thought it was great and did some research on this product. This was a large campaign featuring many starlets and beauty queens.

It’s amazing how times have changed along with the populous view of what is beautiful. Personally I think a curvaceous figure is gorgeous and I long for curves in the right spot. Unfortunately my curves are on my hips and waste- wouldn’t be so bad if I was blessed with some upper endowment to even it all out but alas I am what is commonly called “The Pear”. Haha. I did however gain some bust line with the birth of my sons and happily sport a padded B cup, a long way from my AA’s days…Wahooo! It seems so strange to actually be considered “overweight” now. Many long to be “skinny” and as a girl who grew up on the skinny side it was not much fun. I was underweight do to years of medication and was cursed to drink Ensure in the hopes of putting on some pounds. Blech! Being called skinny all the time and being asked if I was anorexic was just as insulting as someone being called fat. It was hurtful and I longed for some curves.

The woman in this ad is not a skinny mini and yet look how gorgeous she is! I have heard for many years that most men actually like a little meat on the bones so why aren’t we embracing our true beauty more? I can assure you that your significant other finds you sexy the way you are right now. Enjoy it and by all means don’t let them call you skinny!
