Welcome to Summer! The kids are out of school (for those of us with them of course) and the warm weather is officially here. I arrived in Arizona yesterday for a two week vacation and the hot weather inspired me to do another romper post. I did one a little while back, but thought it might be nice to show how you can transform your look from day to night.

Day To Night Romper #129

The easiest way to transform your look is with your shoes. Going from flats to pumps is a sure way to say hello to a night look.
Day to Night: Rompers

Changing all your accessories is another way. Add a glamed up purse and some sparkly jewelry.

What about adding, or changing a jacket? Wearing one jacket at work and swapping it out for your after work look is a great way to transform your romper.
What would be your way to change your romper from a day look to a going out look? What are the pieces in your closet that you use to transform your day to night look?

Swim season is upon us. Finding a comfortable and flattering bathing suit can be difficult, as there are so many different options.

Let’s start with some one pieces. Most moms (I can say this because I am one, and do choose to wear this type) I feel tend to choose a one piece, or tankini option. One piece swim suits are a good choice to for actually swimming, not just sitting by the pool to soak up the rays.

one piece swimwear

A halter style is always a good choice to support “the girls”, and some rushing around the midsection can hide any  areas you are uncomfortable with. Why not go with a fun color, pattern or a swim suit with an accent piece like a belt?!
I’m sure we’ve all at some point worn a bikini. There are so many different styles and cuts of bikinis!
bikinis

There are retro looks, tankini styles, the middle top is a reversible set from H&M, and then there are the more daring cut as in the bottom picture.
My biggest piece of advice, with any clothing but especially swimwear, make sure it fits. Don’t pay attention to the number or letter on the tag because that isn’t what makes you feel comfortable. Make sure it fits or you’ll be picking bottoms out of your rear or watching for boob spillage all day.

Sometimes it can be difficult to figure out what colors look good on your skin tone. Neutrals are always a good choice. Black, white, ivory and grey. Yes, grey. Let me show you some beautiful greys.

Glamorous Greys

What I love about grey is there are a lot of different hues. The outfit on the left is a beautiful purplish grey. The middle outfit is more of a traditional grey while the right outfit has a bit of a greenish hue. They are all great color choices.
Grey can be dressed up with colored jewelry or shoes. It’s always best to choose neutral colored lingerie for your photoshoot. Sometimes the bright colored items can look harsh “on film”. Remember, Danea does wardrobe consultations to take her up on that option! She will steer you in the right direction.

When I say Fredrick’s of Hollywood, what do you think? Maybe something not glamorous, a bit on the “wild” side, more for the bedroom type lingerie? I’m going to change your mind on that today ladies! They have really upgraded their lingerie and I am loving what I see! While they still have lots of pieces that are definitely more “for the bedroom”, Fredrick’s has really brought out many gorgeous, timeless pieces that would be great for your boudoir shoot (and after!).

Let’s look at some of their pieces and talk about what are some good choices for your shoot, and what are not good choices!

Don't & Do

The pink piece on the left is definitely daring, but is that the look you wanna go for in these beautiful, sensual images you are creating? The stunning piece on the left is timeless! The lace makes a gorgeous statement and the collar on it is just amazing, while the lace in the pink outfit competes with the straps and just makes it look “busy”.
A lot of women go for a bodysuit as one of their outfits, and that can be a great choice. Just make sure you are picking one that is flattering.
Bodysuit don't & do

When choosing lingerie don’t pick something that has side cut outs; these kinds of cut outs flatten out your boobies and create a very unflattering image. While the plunge on the right is a very flattering cut, creates great cleavage and looks great on many body types.
One more comparison for you today; remember that you want to be able to look at your images for years to come, without saying “I can’t believe I chose that outfit!”. You want to select pieces that are timeless, and not a reflection of todays style.
teddy don't & do

The outfit on the left is very modern looking, and those details are very reminiscent of the styles of todays lingerie. If you like the detail of lines, choose something like the outfit on the right which doesn’t reflect any specific era.
The closest store in our area is at Oakridge Mall. Don’t forget that Danea does wardrobe consultations and can meet you there and help you choose what will photograph well, best part is you can try them on and really see how they will look on your body!
Go check out their store or website and find some beautiful, classic pieces for your shoot, or bedroom 😉

It’s dress season ladies! There are so many different styles of dresses out there, today I’m going to show you some handkerchief hem dresses.

I love the hem line of these dresses, and that they can be found in a shorter style, or a longer maxi style. That really fits everyones comfortable length.

This style of dress can be an every day type dress. Something you could wear to work, or out running errands even.

everyday handkerchief dresses

These every day dresses would look great with some cute, strappy sandals.
Of course there are options for an event, or date night dress.
dressier handkerchief dress

These dress would look great with some heels, and the right accessories.
I love that this style would fit every body type too. You don’t have to be a skinny mini to fit this dress. There are so many different options to fit your style too; long, short, patterned, solid.
What’s your style? Would you like a short dress or long dress? Patterned or solid? Let me know!

Sandal weather is upon us ladies (ok, maybe not looking out the window today, but it’s here!) and today I want to touch on a different kind of sandal, espadrilles.

These sandals are so versatile, and come in many different styles. There are wedges, open toe, gladiator, and even lace ups. Espadrilles can look great with any outfit.

Bright Floral

I love this look with the dress, and of course the jean jacket! Tying the color of the sandals into the necklace really helps pull a colored sandal off well.
A lace up style can look great with a simple sheath dress.
Lace Up Espadrilles

A wedge looks great with these jeans, and I love how they pull the color of the sandals into the accessories to add some color with this neutral top.

Espadrilles can be found at many stores. I did a quick search and saw them at Nordstrom, Target, Zappos, and even Amazon. Do you have a pair in your closet? Do you have a favorite style of them? What’s your favorite outfit to wear them with?

When planning your boudoir session, think outside the box a little bit! What can you bring that adds a bit of fun? A kimono is a great addition. Think about it; a beautiful bra and panty set with a beautiful patterned, short, kimono robe to go over, maybe draping off of one shoulder?! I know you can picture it!

Kickin' Kimono

There are so many different kimono options out there. From ones that are more plain if that’s your style, to patterned with fringe even. It’s all about finding what your style is, and what you are comfortable with. A kimono can even be paired with a chemise, or a teddy.
Think about how beautiful a white kimono would be with your wedding veil! Maybe paired with a pair of panties that say Bride?
You kimono doesn’t have to be short; if you are more comfortable with a long robe, then by all means choose that! Just nothing fuzzy that you would wear around your house ladies 😉
What would your style be? What would you wear underneath? Whatever it may be, don’t forget your high heels and accessories ladies! Call us today to book your session.
