Fashion Friday | Santa Clara Boudoir Photographer

Black and white is such a classic, simple, and stunning combination. But sometimes it’s nice to jazz it up with a pop of color. A bright color among a neutral can make them pop even more.

A nice example is to pair a red accessory with a black and white outfit, even if your thinking about your wardrobe for your boudoir shoot.

You could choose to do a colored shoe (always a stiletto!), or a colored belt with a structured, tailored blouse would look amazing. A big, cozy, off the shoulder sweater with a colorful flower would look great with panties and some strappy colored heels.

You could even do a colored lingerie set under his button down shirt. Sticking with the red theme today I wanted to show some nice options if you choose to do a non-neutral option. Wearing black stockings and black heels would make the red pop even more.

Fashion Friday | The Bay Area’s #1 Boudoir Photographer

I’m laughing over the title, but hey why not? I’m #1 in my books… hahaha

I’m loving these sexy looks for this weeks fashion Friday. Not only do they show some fabulous layering ideas, but they are white, cream and sassy. White and gold always has a sophisticated and classy look so why not bring that into your session… and with this spin on the “gladiator sandal”… ummm, yes please!

I love all three of these looks and I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite. I look at each of these and instantly think of ways they could be photographed! Standing, leaning, wall, out steched on the floor… so many ideas!!! LOL.

Believe That You Are Beautiful | San Jose Bay Area Empowering Women- Photographer

Last year I had the honor of photographing Miss K. I’m going to be straight up with this- she was nervous, shy, doubtful and couldn’t see her beauty.

She isn’t the first client to feel this way about herself and she won’t be my last. Honestly, it’s a hard struggle for both of us. That frustration in seeing such a kind and beautiful women who is lost in self doubt and insecurities, is a hard one. The voices in her head remained throughout the shoot but I could see that twinkle in her eye grow with each new set. It was a look of wanting. Wanting to believe my words as I instinctively complimented her and got excited over certain shots. Wanting to feel beautiful. Wanting to let go and believe in herself. She put her trust in me. That was a big step for her. She allowed me to take control and guide her through it.

Then the day of her reveal came. “No, no, nope, no, maybe, no…” and my heart sank. Her first pass through her images and she rejected almost every single one. I was stunned. The shots were amazing and I couldn’t wrap my head around what she might have been thinking. What was she seeing that I wasn’t? Or better yet, what couldn’t she see that I did? She went through them again “Maybe, okay, no, nope. Maybe…” It was an improvement. Then, she slowly went through them again “Yes, maybe, okay, yes, yes, YES. I just, I can’t believe this is me! I’m really not used to seeing myself like this. It’s just so different to see myself with makeup and my hair… I really like this one…” and there it was, that sparkle in her eye was back. She allowed herself to look and feel beautiful. She allowed herself to like what she saw.

In the end, she added images to her album.

I will never know the depths of her story. Why she hurt, why she was so critical of herself or why she needed this so much, but I am thankful that I was the photographer she chose. Thank you so much Miss K for trusting me and allowing me to share your amazing images. Hopefully this will encourage other women to do the same; to believe in themselves and love what they see.

Tushy Tuesday |San Jose Boudoir Photographer

Happy Tushy Tuesday!

Did you know that you don’t have to do your shoot in our studio? Some clients request a hotel or even in their own home. Sometimes it’s a location with sentimental meaning like a luxury hotel suit where they spent their first anniversary. The possibilities are endless!

Is there a fee to do an on location shoot?

Maybe. I don’t charge for travel if you are in the San Jose bay area. But I do if it’s over 30 miles away. Hotels are at the clients expense. Otherwise, I treat it the same as a studio session.

This session was done at a local luxury hotel. It was a fantastic location and I loved having different furniture to work with!

Gah! Why does being “healthy” have to be so time consuming?

You know what makes me feel better than a coffee in the afternoon… and I mean immediately feel better not that high and low? Fresh juice: as in 2 carrots, one apple, a little bit of kale, cucumber and a handful of spinach.

Instant energy boost and in a good way. But hell if that isn’t messy and time consuming. Popping a k-cup in the coffee maker, a splash of Baily’s creamer(non-alcoholic… most days)and whip cream is so much easier and let’s face it, ummm tasty.

Damn you evil conveniences!

Alas, I know which makes me feel better, truly better, so let’s just hope I can fight the convenience voices in my head and stick with the change this time. Pretty sure juicing three times a year isn’t quite cutting it. Neither is throwing away veggies because I never got around to actually juice them. And did I mention the cringing at how much I spent on that space consuming, dust collector that should be used for making me fresh juice?

Three times a week. That is my new goal.

Let’s do this!

P.S. Yes, I actually like the taste of these juices. Hahaha
