Fashion Friday eBay Finds | San Jose Boudoir Photography

Boudoir Coterie Portrait photography

Happy Friday, everyone! For this week’s Fashion Friday, I wanted to share some fabulous vintage finds from eBay.

I have to admit, eBay isn’t the first place that comes to mind when I think of lingerie shopping, but after Danea scored a gorgeous vintage nightgown this week, I decided to give it a gander.

Browsing eBay is not exactly like walking into your favorite lingerie shop, but if you keep an open mind, you’re bound to find some unique vintage pieces and even a few bargains.

eBay obviously doesn’t have quite the same aesthetic as a Victoria’s Secret catalog, so you have to use your imagination a little (not that Victoria’s Secret catalogues are an accurate depiction of reality anyway). Most items are poorly photographed, loosely draped across creepy mannequins, and are often set against distracting backgrounds.

See what I mean?

Is she going to the beach in that??

That wallpaper….

However, once you look past all of that, how gorgeous are these nightgowns — and how amazing would they be to rock for a boudoir photo session? I love how they’re classically sexy and would be flattering for many figure types.

Don’t forget, Boudoir Coterie offers wardrobe consultations with many of our packages, so if you aren’t sure about something you want to purchase for a session, you can always send Danea a link before you bid.

Here are a few of my favorites that are still up for auction (at the time this was originally posted):

ebay mint nightie

This sheer mint nightgown is gorgeous and a perfect color for spring.

ebay blue nightgown

I love how this color really pops and is another fabulous option for spring.

ebay black lace

This nightgown has really gorgeous lace detailing on top.

ebay white lace

This one is vintage Christian Dior. Check out that lace!

So what do you think? Would you buy lingerie on eBay? Are you ready to add one of these to your collection? If you’re ready to show off your awesome vintage eBay find, give us a call or shoot us an email to schedule a session today!

Fitness Fabulous | San Jose Boudoir Photography

Boudoir Coterie Portrait photography I’ve never been much of a New Year’s resolution person, but I do usually try to re-focus my energy towards healthier habits during this time of year. Most of this involves getting back on track with things that went out the window during the holidays (they started in July, right?). This year is especially challenging since I got married in April. I was eating really well and working out a ton up until the wedding, and I bet you can guess what happened next…

Anyway, no matter what your health and fitness goals are, if any, I find nothing makes a workout better than a cute outfit. I know this may sound incredibly shallow, but personally I think that whatever it takes to motivate yourself, so be it. For me that happens to be clothes, but I have a sneaking suspicion I’m not the only one.

Since it’s mid-January, which is right around the time the excitement of a new routine starts to wear thin, I thought I’d do a fun roundup of some fun workout clothes that might just add a bit more inspiration.

Fitness Fabulous

1. I love the idea of this longer racerback tank from Athleta. I don’t know about you, but no matter what I do my shirts are always riding up when I’m working out. This would be perfect for yoga, especially if you want a little extra coverage, and would be great for other activities too.

2. I’m a sucker for a cute bag, and I love the colors and detailing on this one, also from Athleta. It has pockets galore on the inside to keep all of your stuff organized too.

3. I actually have this cowl from Target and I really love it. I’ve been doing a lot of yoga lately and it’s perfect for pre and post workout. It feels like a big cozy sweatshirt without exactly looking like one, and you can’t beat the price.

4. What kind of boudoir site would this be if I didn’t include a fun bra and panty set? This set from Athleta is prettier than average for exercise gear and is made from super soft fabric, perfect for lower impact studio workouts.

5. I couldn’t help but include these New Balance shorts since they match everything else in the set so perfectly. Lol. Personally I’m not a big shorts wearer, but if I were, I’d totally rock these.

6. Since I’m not a big shorts wearer, I am a big capri wearer, and I love these. I’m not sure what it is, but I find capris to be the most flattering choice for workout pants, and I really like the fun ruching on the waistband of this pair.

There you have it! What’s your favorite thing to wear when you work out?

Pajama Time! | San Jose Bay Area Glamour & Boudoir Photography

Boudoir Coterie Portrait photography The pages of this blog are often filled with all kinds of gorgeous lingerie, but this is the time of year when my appreciation grows for straight-up cozy pajamas.

My husband and I left for Hawaii on November 3, which was just a few days after Halloween and was also the day we turned the clocks back. Apparently while we were gone all of the Christmas elves were out and it became full-on holiday season. It’s time for Christmas music, holiday lights, and red cups at Starbucks. It’s also this time of year that my 87-year-old Grammy starts pestering everyone in the family for a Christmas list.

I’ve been making Christmas lists for Grammy ever since I was old enough to circle stuff in a catalogue. As a kid I loved making the annual Christmas list. Grammy loves gift-giving more than anyone I know, and she always bought everything on my list. As an adult it’s a bit more troubling. What’s reasonable to ask for? What stores are in a ten-mile radius of her house? What can she buy on QVC?

Each year it seems like pajamas always make the list. Gap Body and Victoria’s Secret are usually the winners since Grammy has both stores nearby and the prices are fairly reasonable. While pajamas feel like a kind of generic grandma gift, I love getting them. They’re not something I typically buy for myself, and having a brand-new pair of Christmas pajamas makes me feel like a kid again.

Here are a few favorites I found while browsing for my Christmas list this year. A couple of these are a bit more of a splurge (I’m talking to you gorgeous and cozy Anthropologie robe!), which I won’t be asking Grammy for, but it’s always fun to dream isn’t it?

cute and cozy PJs

The flannel slip was actually on my Christmas list last year and I love it. While it seems like an impractical piece of clothing (kind of like that short-sleeved pea coat I own), it’s perfect for Northern California nights. It reminds me of the soft and cozy like the flannel pajamas I had as a kid growing up on the chilly East Coast, but isn’t too hot, and is much cuter.

This year, I’m going with the Fireside Thermal Sleep-Shirt from Victoria’s Secret. I like the idea of being warm and cozy on top, but my legs always get hot in bed, so it’s perfect.
