Fashion Friday Sheer & Sexy for Spring | San Jose Boudoir Photography

It might not feel like it for most of the country, but here in California, Spring is in the air!

While you might not be able to wear your Spring wardrobe quite yet, this is a great time to clear out, re-organize and revamp your closet. That goes for lingerie too!

I’m good with my “regular clothes,” but more often than not Iâ€™m guilty of buying new lingerie instead of re-wearing my favorite pieces, but Iâ€™m trying to get better. (Though I do have to admit, I do love when I re-wear something and my husband asks if itâ€™s new. LOL.)

Anyway, if youâ€™re guilty of the same crime, I think one of the best ways around it is to buy items that can be re-worn in different ways.

One great piece that fits the mold is a robe – and no – Iâ€™m not talking about the cozy fleece robe you wear to keep warm (Iâ€™m not the only one, am I?). Iâ€™m talking about sheer and sexy robes.

The beauty of a sheer robe is that you can switch up what youâ€™re wearing underneath. You can wear it over a teddy, nightie, bra andÂ panty set – or – nothing! Here are a couple of my favorites:

I really like black lingerie because it’s so versatile and always classy. There are so many different things you could pair these robes with. I like the idea of going for a mostly monochromatic look, with fun details or small pops of color to spice things up. Here are a few bra and panty sets from journelle.com that would work well.

Black is always a safe option, but if you’ve got room and your budget Â (and your closet), don’t be afraid to go for a little color too. I love the bird pattern on this one. There happens to be a bra and panty set to match, but I also think it would look great with something cream colored underneath.

Fashion Friday Radiant Orchid Boudoir | San Jose, Willow Glen Bay Area Boudoir Photographer

Â When I created my Fitness Fabulous post last week, it didnâ€™t even occur to me that I was using Pantoneâ€™s color of the year â€œRadiant Orchid.â€ I was just inspired by this cute bag from Athleta, so I ran with it.

Seeing how itâ€™s such a pretty color for gym-wear, I decided to search for lingerie of a similar hue. Let’s just say, I was not disappointed. I think we’ll be seeing a lot of Radiant Orchid this year, and I’m okay with that.Â It’s such a fun and playful color and looks great with so many different skin tones.

One of the first pieces I found was this gorgeous “Orchid Pleasure Chemise” from a local shop Curvy Girl Lingerie. It’s beautiful from any angle,Â but I really love the sexy lace up back.

How fun would this be for a boudoir session?

Of course, my search didnâ€™t stop with this one gorgeous piece. It turns out journelle.com also has a ton of on-trend Radiant Orchid options, which pair fabulously with some shoes I found on DSW.com and heels.com. Check these out:

Getting Creative | San Jose Boudoir Art Photographer

Artsy Fartsy

I have always enjoyed creating and in many different mediums. Decorating, scrapbooking, singing, writing, photography(no kidding huh?) it’s always been a big part of me. This year I want to branch out and start shooting for myself. I have lots of ideas rushing around in my head. I want to create art pieces and experiment with layering photographs and elements. Maybe even sell prints– if I am any good at it, lol. I want to play in photoshop to create unique art pieces, heck maybe even offer specialized art pieces to clients!? Regardless of my ambitions one has to start somewhere. The other day I found an image from a play shoot of my lovely friend Miss P and decided to have some fun with it. This was a really, really simple overlay technique and I played a little more with blending and actions. I love the softness and how it turned out. I even shared it on my favorite boudoir forums for other photographers to critique, and they did and I edited some more. (Thanks everyone!)

So here is the finished image I am really happy with how it turned out, but art is subjective and that’s okay.

Â I’ve never been much of a New Yearâ€™s resolution person, but I do usually try to re-focus my energy towards healthier habits during this time of year. Most of this involves getting back on track with things that went out the window during the holidays (they started in July, right?). This year is especially challenging since I got married in April. I was eating really well and working out a ton up until the wedding, and I bet you can guess what happened nextâ€¦

Anyway, no matter what your health and fitness goals are, if any, I find nothing makes a workout better than a cute outfit. I know this may sound incredibly shallow, but personally I think that whatever it takes to motivate yourself, so be it. For me that happens to be clothes, but I have a sneaking suspicion Iâ€™m not the only one.

Since itâ€™s mid-January, which is right around the time the excitement of a new routine starts to wear thin, I thought Iâ€™d do a fun roundup of some fun workout clothes that might just add a bit more inspiration.

1. I love the idea of this longer racerback tank from Athleta. I donâ€™t know about you, but no matter what I do my shirts are always riding up when Iâ€™m working out. This would be perfect for yoga, especially if you want a little extra coverage, and would be great for other activities too.

2. Iâ€™m a sucker for a cute bag, and I love the colors and detailing on this one, also from Athleta. It has pockets galore on the inside to keep all of your stuff organized too.

3. I actually have this cowl from Target and I really love it. Iâ€™ve been doing a lot of yoga lately and itâ€™s perfect for pre and post workout. It feels like a big cozy sweatshirt without exactly looking like one, and you canâ€™t beat the price.

4. What kind of boudoir site would this be if I didnâ€™t include a fun bra and panty set? This set from Athleta is prettier than average for exercise gear and is made from super soft fabric, perfect for lower impact studio workouts.

5. I couldnâ€™t help but include these New Balance shorts since they match everything else in the set so perfectly. Lol. Personally Iâ€™m not a big shorts wearer, but if I were, Iâ€™d totally rock these.

6. Since Iâ€™m not a big shorts wearer, I am a big capri wearer, and I love these. Iâ€™m not sure what it is, but I find capris to be the most flattering choice for workout pants, and I really like the fun ruching on the waistband of this pair.

Tushy Tuesday | San Jose Boudoir Photography

Confession…

When I first started shooting boudoir I did not have a studio. Today’s lovely tush was shot at this fantastic clients friend’s house. I took my gear with me and we made it work. Such a fabulous girl too! So yeah, this tush was from 2011 and totally worthy of today’s Tushy Tuesday spotlight! In fact I contacted owner of said tushy and hope to get her back in the studio later this year. 😉

So here ya go folks…

Sexy Sports Theme Boudoir | San Jose Boudoir Photography

With Major League Baseball Season fast approaching I only thought it fitting to share this session and dangit if it hasn’t been on my “To Share” list for 2 years now. Pathetic, yes I know. But what’s awesome is that this fabulous client is now my fabulous assistant. Hi Regina! Not the first, nor the last client to enjoy herself so much that they wanted to join the Coterie team. I guess that means I’m doing something right! 🙂

I often get gals wanting a few shots with that special someones favorite jersey, or maybe a football or some sort of sports memorabilia but this is the only full set I have done in all a teams glorious gear and it was a lot of fun! I wish I had some football shots to share as we have all been bombarded with football this past week and all the excitement that surrounded the playoffs and oh to have some Superbowl Boudoir. Sigh. Maybe someday. Hahaha

But for now, it’s baseball, so here you go folks and if your an Oakland A’s fan… even better!

I love that she brought the bat too! 🙂

P.S. If I remember correctly, I think this is her hubby’s favorite team, not hers. Oh the things we do for love. Hahaha.
