Happy Tushy Tuesday!

Did you know that you don’t have to do your shoot in our studio? Some clients request a hotel or even in their own home. Sometimes it’s a location with sentimental meaning like a luxury hotel suit where they spent their first anniversary. The possibilities are endless!

Is there a fee to do an on location shoot?

Maybe. I don’t charge for travel if you are in the San Jose bay area. But I do if it’s over 30 miles away. Hotels are at the clients expense. Otherwise, I treat it the same as a studio session.

This session was done at a local luxury hotel. It was a fantastic location and I loved having different furniture to work with!

Fashion Friday | Santa Clara Bay Area Photographer

It’s Friday! It has been so hot this week. And worse than just hot, humid. When it’s this hot and muggy you don’t really feel like wearing clothes, so what’s the best choice? A maxi dress! There are so many cute options. Every store you go into has some nice choices. Locally I’ve found many cute ones at Old Navy, Ross and Kohl’s.

I love this one! The colors and the pattern are beautiful.

Confessions of a Boudoir Photographer | San Jose Bay Area Photographer

Juicing healthy veggies san jose

Gah! Why does being “healthy” have to be so time consuming?

You know what makes me feel better than a coffee in the afternoon… and I mean immediately feel better not that high and low? Fresh juice: as in 2 carrots, one apple, a little bit of kale, cucumber and a handful of spinach.

Instant energy boost and in a good way. But hell if that isn’t messy and time consuming. Popping a k-cup in the coffee maker, a splash of Baily’s creamer(non-alcoholic… most days)and whip cream is so much easier and let’s face it, ummm tasty.

Damn you evil conveniences!

Alas, I know which makes me feel better, truly better, so let’s just hope I can fight the convenience voices in my head and stick with the change this time. Pretty sure juicing three times a year isn’t quite cutting it. Neither is throwing away veggies because I never got around to actually juice them. And did I mention the cringing at how much I spent on that space consuming, dust collector that should be used for making me fresh juice?

Three times a week. That is my new goal.

Let’s do this!

P.S. Yes, I actually like the taste of these juices. Hahaha

Makeup Monday | Santa Clara Bay Area Photographer

Hello Dolls!!!! Mari here with an awesome and exciting makeup review.

Who doesn’t love finding great new makeup products with amazing color pay off at amazing price points??! Not many people know about this brand yet and I DON’T KNOW WHY!!!!?? It’s called Colour Pop, and all items are only $5.00. Yes, I said $5.00!!!!!! We know being here in Cali, especially Bay Area, we can definitely appreciate a good deal since everything is buku expensive here lol.

I have used lippies and eye shadows so far.
Let me start by saying the shadows are a creme to powder formula which is so easy to apply a light wash of color with a soft brush or pack on the pigment with your finger tip or a firm, flat brush. I definitely added some of these to my makeup artist kit! I highly suggest you wear an eye shadow primer for a longer wear (8-10 hrs), with out primer I did notice some fade out and some light creasing (4-5 hrs).

Lippies is what they call their chubby lip pencil. 🙂 So cute!! These lippies take the  place of lipsticks in beautiful satin and matte finishes with a great wearability. Touch ups on lips for me was about 3-4 hrs apart. Not bad right??!

Confessions Of A Boudoir Photographer | San Jose Bay Area Boudoir Photographer

For those of you who may not know this, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I’ve had it since I was 4 and it is now in every single joint in my body. Thankfully it is pretty much under control, however it has left me with severe joint damage which has effected how I walk and do many things. In turn, the past few years I have dealt with progressive chronic back pain. There is little I can do about this. Most days I manage, some days I’m fine, but then there are times where I am going on three consecutive days of pain, fighting migraines and nothing that I can do or take seems to help.

These are the days that I finally stop fighting it and go and have a big, wet, snotty, ugly faced, loud sobbing, cry.

(Trust me, that is not a moment you want to see. Hahaha.)

I swear, I feel so much better now. Like maybe part of the tension and pain was trying to ignore the tension and pain.

So go forth my friends, have that cry… and maybe a glass of wine. Yeah, that’s sounds about right.

Hey all, Devon here with another Fashion Friday. When I saw this set I knew that it would be perfect for this weeks edition. It goes perfectly with the show special that Boudoir Coterie will be offering at the Curvy Girl Lingerie Fashion Show.

These are some great options for your boudoir session. With booking the show special you bring 3 outfits to be photographed in. One of those outfits can be a white sheet session if you would like. Who doesn’t look good lying naked on a bed with a sheet strategically draped over them 😉

 

I love that it gives you several ideas of 4 different options. Of course you do not have to use these ideas, go with what you feel comfortable and sexy in! A robe or see through lace top like in the top photos. A sexy brief & bra set like in the next set of photos. A corset which is sure to show off your girls and curvy waistline (if you choose to bring a corset or a garter belt, make sure you bring stockings to go with them! Please stay away from the stay ups as those are difficult to fit into the snap on the garter strap).  A tank or cami set is another nice option for those who might feel a little shy. Let’s face it, there are some nerves happening when you are wearing next to nothing in front of someone you’ve never meet who is yielding a camera!

Makeup Monday |San Jose Bay Area Photographer

Hello dolls!!! Mari here with makeup Monday!

So, eyes are the windows to our soul right?! And those brows are the frames to that pretty face. Today we talk about brow basics. How many times do we see a beautiful face or great makeup and see some questionable brows? Sometimes we might not know where a brow should start. Where does the arch go? How long should the brow be? Well I’m here to help you out with that!

Let’s start with some basic TIPS. A nice, fuller brow will always give us a more youthful look. Let’s think back to our early years before the tweezing began lol.  An overly arched brow will give you that evil queen look, we definitely DON’T want that! The biggest brow NO NO as a professional makeup artist are those spaced out brows; when they are over tweezed in the center, making the brows and eyes look too far apart.
Here’s a handy little grid to show you how a brow should frame the eye. Take an eye shadow brush and hold it against your eye to follow the grid lines of where to start the brow, where the arch goes, and where it should end. Pretty easy once you follow this!!! Fill in with pencil or powder and work on letting those brows grow in where necessary!
